Darby Orcutt, the Libraries’ Assistant Head of Collections & Research Strategy, presented on "Assigning Podcasts as Texts in the Classroom" at the first Humanities Podcasting Symposium, held Oct. 15-16. Organized by the Humanities Podcast Network, the free, virtual program of discussions and workshops covered the use of podcasts for teaching, learning, and scholarship in the humanities and featured a wealth of presenters including keynote speaker Latif Nasser of WNYC’s RadioLab.

The symposium facilitated conversations between podcasters in the Humanities and offered guidance and support to instructors, scholars, and independent creators working in the Humanities interested in incorporating podcasts into their classroom practice and/or making their own podcasts.

Roundtable discussions addressed topics such as tone/style/form/aesthetics, audience, interview techniques, accreditation, peer review, open access, and diversity, equity, and inclusion in the podcasting space. There were also technical workshops for educators interested in starting a podcast and flash presentations on existing humanities podcasts.
